Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin - The Lighter Side of Spying
Robert Vaughn (Napoleon Solo ) and David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin) developed an easy rapport making The Man From Uncle TV series and it showed in some very funny interactions during the show. It hearkened back to the days of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in their heyday during the Road Pictures. Those 2 legends were masters at defusing dangerous situations with humour. Spying isn't supposed to be this funny...happily for us Illya and Napoleon managed some laugh out loud funny moments.

At last, I have found a 'motion' comics version of one of my favorite comics of the 1960s! In between the publishing as such comic greats like the top Marvel Comics was Gold Key's Magnus Robot Fighter! I can't tell you how I could not wait for each issue due to its painted covers & futuristic themes. I would dream of a world of robots & and finally, in the year 2024 Tesla & others are about to make my dreams of the future a reality!

I have seen almost all her movies now which is both great and bittersweet. It is sad she passed away at such a young age but left a lot of great films and paired up with many of the greats in 40s through 60s. My favorite movies of her prob Nora Prentiss, Woman on the Run, and The Unfaithful, a better version of The Letter in my opinion.

I was always rooting for Illya because he was the underdog. Napoleon would be up in the ballroom dancing with the countess and Illya would be digging his way out of the dungeon with a rusty spoon. Utterly loyal but not above puncturing Napoleon's ego when he needed it.

Nice tribute to a "forgotten player". A shame Laraine Day didnt become a bigger star at MGM. I feel she was under and misused, after getting stuck in the Dr. Kildare series. Also, while Miss Day was crisp and elegant, she lacked that "satin - sheet sex appeal" her sisters at MGM, Lana Turner and Ava Gardner. Could it have been Day's Mormon background that inhibited such overt displays of eroticism...? Interesting how the video contained clips of Day's co-stars Jean Muir and Marsha Hunt----two other talented leading ladies who were "wasted" and never quite made it to stardom of first magnitude. Why was there no mention of the Freudian Film Noir, The Locket (46), perhaps Days best screen performance as the pathological liar klepto who makes Robert Mitchum's life a nightmare...? A very stylish intense film, had Hitichcock made Vertigo 10 yrs earlier, she would have been great in the Kim Novak role.

Had the greatest crush on this guy back in the "M.F.Uncle" days in the 60's. Imagine my surprise that this thoughtful, talented and seemingly a lovely person as described by others who knew him and worked with him was a staunch republican and an ardent Trump supporter who was jubilant when Trump won. Head scratching, and a disappointment, I must say. Still, looking back at these clips, one can but dream on.... Kuryakin will at least live on in the memory.
